Scientists at Havard University have engineered microbes to produce fertilizers on demand. Plants exposed to these fertilizer-producing microbes were 1.5 times larger than plants that did not feed on the bug-made or synthetic fertilizers. The research was led by Daniel Nocera, Patterson Rockwood Professor of Energy at Harvard University, and was presented at a meeting.
